One Room Challenge | Spring 2022 | Week 2
Welcome Back! It’s Week 2 of the One Room Challenge! This is my third time participating in ORC and I’m so excited to be back at it! Check out my previous projects over here.
Last week I announced I am giving our bedroom an update. Check out that post here if you missed it. The last time we did anything to this room was in 2012, when we bought this home. A budget-friendly update feels just right after close to a decade of living here!
To kick off the project I started from the top of the room - the ceiling! I have always wanted to paint a bold ceiling and this felt like that right moment. Paul was on board, too.
I learned something new when buying the ceiling paint in a dark color and thought I’d pass along the nugget. When painting a ceiling a dark color, you will need a dark base paint in a flat finish. Regular ceiling paint won’t work because it’s not a dark base and there is not enough room in the can to mix a dark color. The solution? He recommend this one in dark base. And it worked like a charm!
At first I was terrified - what am I even doing painting a ceiling this dark color? Ha, so much initial regret! Soon enough I started to love it! Honestly, it feels like it should’ve been this way for the last 10 years! What in the heck was a I waiting for? The color i chose is Behr Whale Gray and we love it so much!
Stay tuned for more updates next week once I really get rolling on this project. Be sure to check out all of the other ORC Guest Participant projects here.
