One Room Challenge: Week 6 - Shed Makeover | The Final Reveal
Well, hi there. Welcome back! Do you know what today is? It's Thirsty Thursday and Reveal Day of our One Room Challenge Shed Makeover. So, grab a beverage of your choice and get ready for loads of photos! Not familiar with the One Room Challenge? The challenge is hosted by Linda over at Calling It Home. Every Spring and Fall she challenges her fellow bloggers and readers to tackle just one room in 6 weeks, all while sharing the progress of your project each week. My husband and I decided to join the challenge ,for the first time, and tackle our homely looking shed. Since the weather has been so fabulous it gave us a great excuse to be outside during the weekends and enjoy the unusually warm MN weather.
Have you beverage and ready for more photos and words? Here we go!

This poor little shed went from drab to pretty fab in just 6 weeks. We decided we love it so much we want to move into the shed and rent out our house. Any takers? Although, we'll still need to use the bathroom and laundry room so you'll still have pesky roommates. : P
How is that for before and after photo comparisons? Hard to believe it's the same shed. Our original wish list consisted of:
Organize
New Sub Floor
Repair Doors
Paint Exterior
Interior Lighting
Landscaping
We successfully finished everything on the list minus the interior lighting. In the end we decided it really isn't necessary since we aren't in the shed at night all that often. In addition to our wish list, we added: building a ramp and additional landscaping leading out to the shed.
Here's a detailed list of items we tackled in the final week to reach the finish line:
Moved the sprinkler head away from side of shed
Outlined landscaping with black trim, leveled dirt and laid mulch
Planted greenery and flowers
Built a ramp
Paint touch ups
Added center detail to doors
Hung Solar lights on outside
How cute are these little latern lights? We already had the lights on hand- purchased from Home Depot last summer. We removed the bottom half of the light, for staking in the ground, and hung each light on a 6" plant hook from Menards. We weren't sure if they would get enough light with the large trees, but it turns out they do get sun during the day and glow at night.
It feels so great to have this project completed before Summer gets started. Now only if we could get our new lawn mower to start! Right, hunny?! ;)
Overall, the project went well. A few minor hiccups, but nothing worth crying over. I'm such a sucker for these projects and reaching the finish line. I am already scheming our next project! What do you think? Would you spend the time and money to makeover your shed? What would you have done differently Before I sign off for my final post of this challenge, I will leave you with a little photo collage of some of my favorite photos I took along the way. If you're looking for me I'll be hanging out in the shed. Cheers!
