52 Weeks of Mail: Week 12- Mail A Flip Flop!

Howdy!  Have you processed yesterday's inspiration post yet?  This week we are mailing a flip flop (or two).  Yep, it's really happening.  I wanted to post early in the week so I could share a few tips I learned from mailing this unique piece of "mail".  But first, the flip flops:

One flip flop says: 1 Week to Florida! :)  I sent this one to my bestie as a countdown for our upcoming girl's trip (insert girly squeal!)  The second flip flop says: Thanks for showing us a flipping good time in AZ!  Those are just two ideas for reasons to mail a flip flop; there are plenty more.  Here are a few to help you brainstorm: summer BBQ, pool party invite, birthday party, bridal shower, a funny gram, etc.

52 Weeks of Mail: Week 12- mail a flip flop- Tips for Mailing a Flip Flop

As promised, here are my tips for mailing a flip flop:

  • When shopping for your flip flops, try to buy a pair with a smooth finish.  I purchased a bumpy/textured style and it was impossible to get anything to stick to it or to write on.
  • If you are having a hard time writing on/sticking things to your flip flop try this:
    • Print your address and message on text paper.  Use glue dots or strong adhesive to stick to flip flop and hold in place.  Then, use puff paint to trace around the edge of the paper (thick lines work best!)  Allow for dry time.
    • To be sure your stamps stay in place, secure paper to flip flop first (see above), then place stamps on paper. DO NOT PLACE PACKING TAPE OVER STAMPS!  Your mail will most likely get returned if you do so.  Packing tape over stamps= bad news.
  • The post office may warn you that mailing the flip flop without packaging may cause damage (it gets tossed in the bins with all the other boxes).  It could happen, but I had no issue with this.
  • Price to mail: $2.34 per flip flop.  I would advise you to bring to the post office and get the correct postage as it may vary slightly.

Follow those tips and you should have no issues mailing your flip flops.  Ready, set, mail!

Have a great week!
